WineReview:  The Reviews and Nothing but Reviews

With so many good wines being produced in Ontario and only 6 slots in each bi-weekly newsletter, there's just not enough room to get them all in. In this Special Edition of the newsletter there are 47 reviews of wines that were tasted in the past year yet never graced the pages of the newsletter. They have been organized by varietal so you can find your favourite grapes more easily.

Thanks for taking the time to read and to all the wineries that make great wine each and every year we thank you as well, without you there would be no review …

Cabernet Franc ...

Between the Lines 2012 Cabernet Franc, Reserve - $27.95 (W)
www.betweenthelineswinery.com
You'd expect an 18 month-aged Franc in both American and French oak, all new, to show lots of that oak character, but thankfully you'd be wrong.  Aromas of raspberry and pipe tobacco lead to a silky palate with spiced-raspberry and fresh tobacco; but those tannins rise up on the finish, making feel robust and bite back on the tongue with some grit and grip - but I still find this wine amazingly drinkable now (ageable for another 5-6 years).  Price: $27.95 - Rating: ****

Cattail Creek 2012 Cabernet Franc, Small Lot Series - $29.95 (W)
www.cattailcreek.ca
With the amount of grapes Cattail controls I'm surprised a Small Lot Series didn't come sooner.  Fellow writer and Franc enthusiast Andre Proulx pointed me to this wine saying it was the "best Ontario Franc he's ever had" ... a little hyperbole on his part, but a statement like that goes a long way.  While I do agree it was quite a good Franc I would not go to his level, but again it is a very good Franc.  This is a 4-barrel selection, which made a total of 86 cases.  Nose is cassis, with smoky and slight tobacco notes all with a vanilla bean caress.  Palate keeps all these notes intact: smoky, vanilla, tobacco then adds black cherry and raspberry to the mix allowing the tannins and acidity to add their chorus into the cacophony for balance.  Potentially the best Franc I've tasted from Cattail Creek, if that's what Andre meant then I am in total agreement.  Price: $29.95 - Rating: ****+

Colio 2012 Cabernet Franc, Old Farm - Bricklayer's Reward - $19.95 (W)
www.coliowinery.com
The vines for this wine are 36+ years old and thus have earned their stripes in the rugged Lake Erie North Shore.  This Bricklayer's Reward takes over from the CEV Reserve line of wines at Colio - and it deserves to be there.  Nose screams smoky raspberry, cassis and blackberry nicely spiced with sprinkles of white pepper, on the palate it is black cherry and cassis.  Nice tannins and a good structure from front to back makes this wine a welcome addition to the Colio legacy.  Price: $19.95 - Rating: ****+

Inniskillin 2012 Cabernet Franc, Icewine - $99.95 / 375ml (W)
www.inniskillin.com
So recently I visited Inniskillin and tried this wonderful, delightful and palate-exciting icewine - and was charged with the task of describing icewine without using the dirty word (that begins with an "s") to describe it ... I'll give you a few seconds to digest that assignment.  So here it goes:  pure strawberry on both the nose and palate, a long luxurious finish that coats the tongue and great balancing acidity ... my only "problem" is that I found the wine to be dry-impaired making it a perfect pairing with chocolate desserts or all by itself.  Price: $99.95 / 375 ml - Rating: ****

Malivoire 2012 Cabernet Franc - $24.95 (W)
www.malivoire.com
For a mainly Burgundy/Beaujolais house (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay) it's funny to see a grape like Cabernet Franc enter their portfolio as a standalone wine - but it's no laughing matter when it is this dang good.  Winemaker Shiraz Mottiar has been making Franc since 2008 but it has taken time for Malivoire to release it as a standalone.  Here 14-16 months in oak (with minimal new) in an excitingly hot vintage has created a raspberry, smoky-cherry nose that follows on to the palate with spices to the tune of vanilla and cinnamon, mixing it up with smoky-dark fruit ... its aggressive tannins will mellow with time to show off that lush fruit, but it needs time; say 5+ years.  Price: $24.95 - Rating: ****+

Muscedere Vineyards 2012 Cabernet Franc - $18.00 (W)
www.muscederevineyards.com
2014 is going to be a very lean year for the Lake Erie North Shore ... good thing '12 and '13 were of the banner variety.  This is the flagship wine for Muscedere - it's the workhorse grape variety of their vineyard operation that delivers year-in-and-year-out.  8 months in used French oak has given this wine its raspberry, cassis aromas with a touch of the smoky.  Nice mouthfeel with plenty of dark fruit and spice, hints of mocha and tobacco on a tannin-rich finish.  This one's dark and delicious.  Price: $18.00 - Rating: ****+

Peller Estates 2011 Cabernet Franc, Andrew Peller Signature Series - $40.00 (W)
www.peller.com
Sometimes simple come in expensive packaging, but simple does not have to mean simplistic and boring.  This Franc from a cool Ontario vintage is expressive in the way Cabernet Franc should be.  Aromas of tobacco, raspberry and smoke are followed onto the palate and has the makings of a wine you'll love to sit and sip upon for hours (if the bottle lasts that long).  Price: $40.00 - Rating: ****

Cabernet Sauvignon ...

Chateau des Charmes 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, St. David's Bench - $25.95 (W)
www.fromtheboscfamily.com/chateau-des-charmes
What a great year to make Cabernet Sauvignon and Chateau des Charmes took full advantage.  A nose full of cherry, blackberry, cassis and other dark fruit with whiffs of smoke and cinnamon for good measure.  Palate has a lovely seam of cocoa and spice with cassis, fuzzy-furry tannins that hint at a pseudo-silkiness in the future ... a nice one to age a decade.  Price: $25.95 - Rating: ****+

Hinterbrook 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon - $23.00 (W)
www.hinterbrook.com
2012 was another year for making really good, approachable, yet age-worthy, Cabernet ... as was 2010 ... this Hinterbrook version starts with smoky, cherry and mocha notes and builds from there.  16 months in oak has given oaky and pencil shaving character to go along with cigar, tobacco and smoked cherry on the palate.  There's also raspberry and floral that kicks in just before the finish, which turns red fruit dominate with a lovely linger.  Price: $23.00 - Rating: ****+

Palatine Hills 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Neufeld Vineyard - $25.00 (W)
www.palatinehillsestatewinery.com
This Cabernet wears the massive 2012 vintage on its sleeve, but manages to corral the fruit and tannins into a nice package.  A pretty silky mouthfeel despite those big rugged tannins along with raspberry, cocoa, blue and black berry ... and lots of grip and grit to boot.  This is one to hold 5+ years with relative confidence that it will come around nicely.  Price: $25.00 - Rating: ****+

Ravine 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon - $35.00 (W)
www.ravinevineyard.com
2012 was the year for Cabernet Sauvignon in Ontario, I find myself continually impressed with the varietal wines hitting shelves using this grape.  Another beauty is this blackberry, cassis, chocolate, smoke and vanilla laced version from Ravine.  What really makes this one special is the finish, where white pepper and cocoa collide with loads of dark fruit and spice - it's a real beauty.  Price: $35.00 - Rating: **** ½

Chardonnay ...

Lighthall 2011 Chardonnay - $25.00 (W)
www.lighthallvineyards.com
Lighthall owner and winemaker Glenn Symons says this is the best Chardonnay he's ever made and I'm apt to agree with him.  Nose is full of pear, lemon and mineral ... Palate also retains the mineral with good weight, peach pit and green apple puree.  The wine spent 1 year in oak, some new and some older barrels, but it's the mix of 1/3 no oak, 1/3 oak fermentation and 1/3 steel fermented oak age that might really be the difference here.  Price: $25.00 - Rating: ****

Rancourt 2012 Chardonnay - $16.00 (W)
www.rancourtwinery.com
Although claiming to be an unoaked version of Chardonnay, this wine has some real interesting notes to it that show some extended lees contact.  First, there's a richness in the mouth, more than expected, from unoaked Chardonnay, plus there is grilled pineapple, peach pit and pear skin.  This one'll grow on you, and with that long finish you'll enjoy finding other flavours as well.  Price: $16.00 - Rating: ****

Strewn 2011 Chardonnay, French Oak - $24.95 (W)
www.strewnwinery.com
Those in the know tell us that American oak brings lots of oak derived flavours to a wine, while French is a little more on the subtle side.  This Chardonnay shows off aromas and flavours that are quite up-front: spiced-vanilla, apple and peach with a long finish that seems big and rich in nature, but still has some elegance and finesse behind it.  Price: $24.95 - Rating: ****

Westcott 2013 Chardonnay, Estate - $26.00 (W)
www.westcottvineyards.com
Here we have the Westcott Estate Chardonnay which begins its life with 12 months in oak, lees stirring and 2/3 new all French oak - after the Reserve barrels are removed from the production you have the Estate series of wines.  In 2013 the fruit hung an extra month than the previous vintage, allowing the fruit to ripen more slowly and achieving a more well-rounded wine.  Aromas are fairly typically Chardonnay: butter, vanilla, apple; palate has a beautiful creamy texture and shows apple, peach and apricot along with hints of oak and spice on the finish.  Price: $26.00 - Rating: ****

Gamay Noir ...

Stratus 2012 Gamay - $29.00 (W)
www.stratuswines.com
JL (Groux) has done it again ... taking the usually light bodied, refreshing Gamay and turning it into something big and bold, and at 14.5% alcohol this is a bruiser to your sobriety.  Nose is ripe with lovely cherry and raspberry aromas.  Palate continues in the same vein with rich cherry and just enough white pepper on the finish to make this one a sippable pleasure - if not dangerously delicious.  Is it traditional Gamay?  No, but what do you expect from JL.  Price: $29.00 - Rating: ****+

Vieni 2012 Gamay - $14.95 (W)
www.vieni.ca
Simplicity can be just what the wine-doctor ordered.  Plenty of black cherry aromas lead to a palate that's full of fruit, namely black cherry with a slight violet/floral note.  Price: $14.95 - Rating: ****

Merlot ...

Cornerstone 2010 Merlot - $23.00 (W)
www.cornerstonewinery.com
Over at Cornerstone the traveling winemaker Andrzej Lipinski has taken over the reins and the wines are showing immediate improvement; I have to believe he had a hand in this one as well.  This 26 month all new French and European oak aged Merlot is robust yet well-integrated.  Aromas show off vanilla, cinnamon, cassis and blackberry, while the palate is darkly fruited with cassis and blueberry skin along with smoky-oaky notes and well-constructed tannins.  One of the best Cornerstone wines I've tasted in quite some time.  Price: $23.00 - Rating: ****+

Konzelmann 2012 Merlot, Family Reserve - $27.00 (W)
www.konzelmann.ca
This Merlot is a little rough around the edges, but it's young, so what do you expect ... it's dominated by spiced blueberry and cocoa with a little oak-cedar playing more than just a quiet supporting role.  I expect mellowing over the next year.  Price: $27.00 - Rating: ****

Lailey 2011 Merlot - $24.95 (W)
www.laileyvineyard.com
2011 will be more of a Merlot year than one that will shine for Cabernet Sauvignon and this is a fine example of an Ontario Merlot.  Aromas of spiced-plum with a touch of florality (I might be making words up now).  Flavours keep their floral note, in the form of violets, and then layers in plum, cassis, blueberry and spiced-cherry.  Good mix of acidity and tannins that seem interested in being polite with one another so there isn't too much that dominates.  Price: $24.95 - Rating: ****

Pinot Noir ...

Broken Stone 2013 Pinot Noir - $23.95 (W)
www.brokenstone.ca
This is the first time Broken Stone has put Pinot Noir into a barrel, 1-2 months in new French oak to be precise.  But because they wanted to avoid the too-much-oak, that new barrels can bring to a wine, 50% went into stainless steel.  There's a nice balance of oak to fruit and a pretty spice sensation ... palate gives lots of spiced red berries, some earthiness and hints of cranberry and cran-cherry.  Price: $23.95 - Rating: ****

Coyote's Run 2013 Pinot Noir, The Raven's Roost - $21.95 (L)
www.coyotesrunwinery.com
The super-cool label is back with this barrel selection Pinot Noir (and for those counting this marks Coyote's Run's fourth Pinot offering).  Nose of spiced-cranberry and cinnamon leads to a palate that comes off lighter than the nose lets on: light cherry fruit seasoned with delicate hands, white pepper in one and a shaker of mixed spices in the other.  Price: $21.95 - Rating: ****

Domaine Queylus 2010 Pinot Noir, Reserve du Domaine - $45.00 (W)
www.queylus.com
Queylus attempts to be vineyard specific in their approach, a style that winemaker Thomas Bachelder made famous at his former gig:  Le Clos Jordanne ... but this Reserve actually comes from the center block of both vineyards owned by the winery and is made in a very masculine style.  Nose is robust in black cherry, spiced-plum and Christmas spices; flavours follow from what the nose picked up, dark fruit reigns supreme, tannins give the wine extra heft along with cedar/pencil shaving elements on the long finish.  Price: $45.00 - Rating: ****

Domaine Queylus 2010 Pinot Noir, Tradition - $29.95 (W)
www.queylus.com
When you're the first winery in a specific sub-region (West Lincoln) you'd better come out of the gate screaming ... and that's just what Domaine Queylus has done.  Hiring winemaker Thomas Bachelder and creating a Pinot Noir-centric winery, which is right up their winemaker's alley.  For a 2010 this wine comes across as extremely feminine ... Aromas are soft and round with sour cherry, violets and raspberry leading the charge.  Palate adds plum, raspberry-strawberry and earthy notes to the above yet all seems light, delicate and supple.  Price: $29.95 - Rating: ****

Keint-he 2012 Pinot Noir, Portage - $25.00 (W)
www.keint-he.ca
An interesting all-County Pinot that seems to want to be anything but Pinot.  Aromas are, I swear to goodness, candy apple and cherry dominant; palate shows off sweet cranberry, cherry and some chalky-mineral notes.  This wine spent under a year in oak, (½ new) - it starts off sweet fruited in the mouth but ends with a definite dryness.  Price: $25.00 - Rating: ****

Niagara College 2011 Pinot Noir, Balance - $18.95 (W)
www.niagaracollegewine.ca
This new-look new-line from Niagara College really leans heavily on its name, "Balance" - and that's exactly what you should be looking for in your wines.  The nose here is sour black cherry with a pretty spice ... the palate shows off good acidity along with sour cherry and spice before whacking you with a big hit of tannins.  This one needs another year to mellow but is going places you're going to love.  Price: $18.95 - Rating: ****

Rosewood 2012 Pinot Noir, Select Series - $22.00 (W)
www.rosewoodwine.com
Exactly what you'd expect from a hot vintage Pinot Noir but mixed with that Ontario balance of acidity.  Plenty of sour cherry and strawberry on the nose, equaling something red and very appealing.  Palate proves to be full fruited with lots more appeal: strawberry, cherry re-emerge along with red plum and sweet spices.  Very nice bottle ready for both sipping and food fare.  Price: $22.00 - Rating: ****

Stanners 2011 Pinot Noir - $30.00 (W)
www.stannersvineyard.ca
Here's a Pinot Noir that's pretty straight forward, as far as Pinot goes.  Chalky mineral leads things off and sticks around through to the finish, followed by sour cherry and a cranberry core.  Delicate and subtle.  Price: $30.00 - Rating: ****

Red Blends ...

Big Head 2013 Big Red - $19.00 (W)
www.bigheadwines.ca
Three grapes go into this one ... Merlot (47%) and Dornfelder (23% - and mostly for colour) both dried, and 30% Syrah.  Aromas are smoky with both tobacco and cassis.  Aged 6 months in new barrels gives the palate a cherry sensation full of raspberry, blackberry, and cassis along with some smoky and meaty elements.  Nice structure in this potentially every day drinker that could still be aged 3-5 years.  1000 cases produced.  Price: $19.00 - Rating: ****

Cooper's Hawk 2011 Merlot-Cabernet - $16.95 (W)
www.coopershawkvineyards.com
Blueberry, sweet cherry and chocolate all take a turn here on the palate, it's all balanced off by a touch of spice and sour-ish vanilla nuances on the finish; tasting is believing here.  Price: $16.95 - Rating: ****

Muscedere 2011 Meritage - $30.00 (W)
www.muscederevineyards.com
Here we have a red blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon ($25%) and Cabernet Franc ($10%) aged 16-18 months in 25% new oak.  Rich and smooth on the palate blending chocolate with cherry, blueberry, white pepper and black plum ... silky smooth, lovely fruit and silky tannins - what more needs to be said.  Price: $30.00 - Rating: **** ½

Niagara College 2010 Meritage, Dean's List - $47.95 (W)
www.niagaracollegewine.ca
This is the priciest wine on the Niagara College wine list and after tasting it I have no wonders as to why.  There's lots going for this wine including blueberry, cherry, blackberry, cassis and smoky vanilla with just the right amount of spice and tannins to balance it all off.  Price: $47.95 - Rating: ****

Pillitteri 2010 Winemaker's Red Reserve - $45.00 (W)
www.pillitteri.com
Pillitteri has always prided itself on two things: icewine and their reserve wines.  Here we have a winemaker’s red blend which is now a 4 years from vintage date.  The nose invites you in with its cocoa, blackberry and cassis aromas; the palate delivers on the olfactory-promise but adds so much more:  blackberry, hint of blueberry, black cherry and chocolate/mocha all wrapped up in a smooth, silky delivery.  Price: $45.00 - Rating: ****

Rennie 2011 Assemblage 'G' - $55.00 (W)
www.rennieestatewinery.com
This appassimento wine has been on my radar for some time, it's a Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blend that weighs in at a whopping 16.5% alcohol.  I have tried it a number of times before and have not been impressed, but at a most recent tasting in late-August of 2014 I found myself intrigued and thought maybe the wine has turned a corner.  The aromas still show the robust alcohol but also black cherry, mocha/cocoa and blackberry ... the palate comes off as silky with acid gripping the cheeks and tannins nipping at the back palate, but the flavours also seem to follow what the nose promised.  1 good tasting out of 4 does not make for a good wine, but I'll rate this tentatively and with the caveat of "this bottle"; here’s hoping you find one like it too.  Price: $55.00 - Rating: ****

Riesling ...

Hidden Bench 2012 Riesling, Estate - $23.95 (W)
www.hiddenbench.com
'12 Riesling are going to have a petrol problem - especially the longer you keep them; and I mean sooner rather than later.  That's just what a hot vintage does to the delicate Riesling grape, but trying this Riesling now it shows nice lime, apple and hints of pear on the nose; mineral sits at its core amongst lime pith and good acidity.  Price: $23.95 - Rating: ****

Rosehall Run 2013 Riesling, Single Vineyard "The Righteous Dude" - $19.95 (W)
www.rosehallrun.com
One of the nicest Riesling to come out of the County and from Rosehall Run.  This single vineyard offering serves up peach pit, mineral and lemon meringue on the nose; palate kicks things off with apple and peach then parachutes in the mineral element for a dry, refreshing finish.  Price: $19.95 - Rating: ****

Rosewood Estates 2013 Riesling, Mima's Block - $18.00 (W)
www.rosewoodwine.com
This is the first time Rosewood has attempted a wild ferment on a Riesling ... and I think it worked really well.  Nose is good for a couple of whiffs of pear and apple skin; but the palate is where this wine shines:  fresh, fruity, lively with delicious apple and pear in light syrup, sure it has its fair share of sweetness, but it's also well-balanced with acidity and a long finish.  Price: $18.00 - Rating: ****

Tawse 2013 Riesling, Quarry Road - $23.95 (W)
www.tawsewinery.ca
Mineral/wet stone drives the aromas on this one; the palate comes off as extremely pleasant with wet stone, lemon-lime fruit as well as citrus pith highlights the dry finish.  Price: $23.95 - Rating: ****

Syrah ...

Creekside 2012 Syrah, Iconoclast - $17.95 (W)
www.creeksidewine.com
What is this value I see before me ...?  This Syrah was destined for restaurant only sales, but due to the sellout of the usually well-priced Creekside Syrah they needed something on the shelf to take its place as a stop-gap until the '13 is ready.  The nose screams black pepper while the flavours are delving into the realm of cassis and spiced raspberry; but what really sticks out here is that massive dose of black pepper ... I think with time the fruit should emerge to round this one out nicely.  Price: $17.95 - Rating: ****+

Daniel Lenko 2009 Syrah - $59.95 (W)
www.daniellenko.com
2009 might not seem like a Syrah-like vintage, but it depended on how you cared for it.  Daniel Lenko put it in oak for 18 month, all French and babied it.  Now it's become a smoky, meaty, raspberry and dried fruit aroma-ed wine that takes the flavour from what you smell and adds cassis, grippy and gritty tannins along with good acidity.  There's something rather special in this bottle so enjoy it.  Price: $59.95 - Rating: ****+

Jackson-Triggs 2012 Syrah, Delaine Vineyard - $32.95 (W)
www.jacksontriggswinery.com
Winemaker Marco Piccoli does it again with another good version of the Delaine Syrah, one of the most consistent varietals under the label.  Nose hits all the high notes of Syrah including smoke, vanilla, smoked meat, black currants, black raspberry and hints of pepper ... the palate takes the promise of the nose and adds to it.  A sweet red and black fruit entry courses through the mouth with white pepper and black cherry, nice tannins and a rich linger on the finish.  Once again this wine shows the balance and elegance of Syrah possible from this part of the world - kudos to Marco for seamlessly melding great terroir and accomplished winemaking.  Price: $32.95 - Rating: **** 1/2

Other Varieties and Single Reviews (red and white) ...

Between the Lines 2012 Lemberger Reserve - $29.95 (W)
www.betweenthelineswinery.com
When the boys at Between the Lines told me years ago that Lemberger was their flag bearing variety I wished them luck and stood back to watch - and damn haven't they made some amazing stuff with it (aka:  Blaufrankisch).  This 18 month in a mix of 60% French and 40% American new oak barrels is a real beauty.  Aromas of blueberry, cranberry, creme de cassis ... it just keeps giving ... and so does the palate.  Pretty with cranberry, cassis, black cherry, white pepper - smooth and silky tannins with acidity that seems high but incredibly food friendly - I think these boys are definitely onto something here.  Price: $29.95 - Rating: ****+

Big Head 2013 Chenin Blanc - $22.00 (W)
www.bigheadwines.ca
This is the grape that got Andrzej Lipinski started onto his own label and probably one of the wines he still makes best.  25% barrel element in 1 year old barrels and naturally fermented, brings out the peach, apple and lanolin on the nose with tropical fruit on the palate along the lines of pineapple and mango; you’ll also find the some more typical pear notes.  There's just a hint of sweetness, but what do you expect from such a well-fruited wine.  Price: $22.00 - Rating: ****

Hillebrand 2013 Sauvignon Blanc, Trius - $13.95 (W)
www.triuswines.com
"Did you notice the clear bottle?" asked the marketing maven from Trius ... "Um, no", I answer - "Good" was her response.  Trius doesn't want to bring attention to the bottle change as much as they want to highlight the hue of the wine in the bottle ... and it makes sense that one would want to see their white wine more clearly.  This Blanc is aromatic and alluring with grassy, herbal and melon rind notes; palate has pink grapefruit, grassy, peach pit and lemon pith with intense acidity and herbaceous notes with excellent length.  Price: $13.95 - Rating: ****

Inniskillin 2013 Viognier Reserve - $19.95 (W)
www.inniskillin.com
Inniskillin winemaker Bruce Nicholson has really brought his knowledge of Viognier from British Columbia and used it to great effect here in Ontario.  Aromas are pineapple, melon and pear while the palate proves to be even more interesting ... rich, almost opulent fruit, with great mouthfeel that hints at melon rind and pineapple core; this is one heck of a delicious Viognier and a wine worth getting to know.  Price: $19.95 - Rating: ****+

Norman Hardie 2013 Calcaire - $23.00 (W)
www.normanhardie.com
I'll admit the first year of Calcaire was not my glass of wine, but this time I think Normy has nailed it.  It's a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Melon de Bourgogne co-fermented to show off the clay and limestone soils in Ontario ... it spends 2 months on lees and uses "field yeast" (aka: wild fermented).  This is one mineral driven concoction with lots of grapefruit pulp and pith and jowl jangling acidity along the lines of lemon juice or verjus ... the word is zesty in an acidic kinda way.  Price: $23.00 - Rating: ****+

Sanson 2012 Baco Noir Reserve - $24.95 (W)
www.dsanson.mnsi.net
When people ask me about Baco I usually turn my head and cough and then change the subject.  But when pressed I mention one of three wineries doing the grape some justice in Ontario.  Sanson would be one of them.  As much as it pains me to compliment a Baco this one has aromas of smoky black currant, while the palate is meaty and smoky with cassis and a touch of an earthy component.  If I HAD to drink a Baco, and had the chance, this would be on my short list.  Price: $24.95 - Rating: ****
